Week one of term meant getting started with CASA0014. Some great zines were produced in the first session to get students sketching out ideas and introducing themselves to each other. Work on the Yeo project is getting close to final installation on version 0.4 of the UNO Q acoupi, some final testing taking place over the weekend to make sure all is ready for install next week.

Final enclosure setup - this one YV-29
One of the challenges of the start of term is “freshers flu”. Ended up doing a quick day trip up to Liverpool and then Manchester to see kids who have been having a horrible time only to end up an hour away from London with a call from son who had been advised by 111 doctor to head to A&E. Made it home by 4am but strangely a lovely day.
Tested the M6 Toll for first time - driving with no traffic is so much more relaxing.
First time walking through the lovely Sefton Park
In Manchester lucked out and randomly found South Station CIC for something to eat. Lovely place, will definitely be returning.
They say:
“Station South CIC was formed in 2017 by local residents to prevent the old Levenshulme station building falling into disrepair. With support from the local community, Station South is now a destination cycle café, bar, workshop, urban garden and community hangout based in a beautifully restored train station.
Station South is focused on the community, with cycling and community programmes running throughout the year. Our bar, cafe and bicycle repair workshop allow us to operate sustainably as a business, reinvesting into our local initiatives, run directly from Station South.
In 2026 we have even bigger plans, made possible by. every single person who comes in for brunch, buys a drink, books a bike service, volunteers at one of our events, or joins one of our programmes. By supporting us you’re supporting our community programme to ensure Station South is for Everyone.”
Looking at links.duncanwilson.com, these parts of the internet crossed my path this week:
- Aude’s paper on a Future of Edge AI in Biodiversity is out
- love these comedy wildlife photos
- nice video from brother cycles on a Stroma build
