The joys of walking to a big gig. Public Service Broadcasting played at Ally Pally last night celebrating 10 (+1) years of The Race For Space. Had seen their Last Flight gig at Camden Roundhose a couple of years ago which was a slightly more intimate setting. The scale of this set-up was impressive.
Have really enjoyed the aesthetic of all the promo around the event. Both visuals (love their posters) and the narrative of their motivation for the event - for example, on why they were playing in London, at Ally Pally, they said:
Complete a nice circle in terms of going back to Alexandra Palace - where we first launched TRFS way back in 2014, playing the trailer at a Lost Lectures event - to celebrate its ten-and-a-bit-year anniversary. It’s also where I did my first ever press shots as a wee whipper-snapper back in 2012 for The War Room release
In terms of big venues with rich histories you don’t get much more apposite than Alexandra Palace, with its broadcasting history (especially with regard to the Apollo moon landings) obviously being a big factor for a group called, er, Public Service Broadcasting
As expected, the visuals were pretty amazing and loved the reveal of Sputnik. Hamish Hawk were great and loved that so many collaborators joined on stage throughout the night.
