Some fun creating an interactive, web dashboard that maps and visualizes Rohan’s 44-day cycle journey from London to Istanbul (April 24th – June 6th, 2026). I had been following on a daily basis to enviously see where he had been. As he neared the completion of the journey I found myself wanting to see the scale of where he had ridden. I thought the process of accessing Strava data would be easier than it turned out to be.
5 hours later (I had budgeted 1!) I had managed to download GPS traces, fill in some missing gaps with estimated routes (via Strava) and plotted onto a map. Pretty happy with how this shows the scale of the journey and some of the overall stats.
The repo with how this was made is on GitHub. A live demo is on this site
Spent some time returning to Manifold project - lights now installed in lab to make it easier to focus on programming the animations.
Visitors are back and confident in the back garden.
Allotment fruit is starting to appear. The loganberries seem to be early this year which means cheesecake season.
Am a sucker for watching Red Arrows flying over London. Flight tracker and flight plan showed they wouldn’t come near the house so popped over to Ally Pally to look from a distance.
